Decorating for Halloween can be a lot of fun. If you’re interested in being the cool house on the block where all the trick-or-treating kids hesitate just a little before approaching your foggy, blinking, moaning front door, you’ll likely put in a lot of time with your décor. You should make sure you also take the time to think about safety during the Halloween season. Here are some tips for how you can keep your Georgia home safe:

  • Use a flashlight or battery-operated candle in your jack-o-lanterns instead of putting a lit candle inside your pumpkins.
  • Never leave a lit candle unattended especially if you have pets or children around.
  • Keep in mind that dried flowers, cornstalks, and crepe paper are all highly flammable. Keep them away from open flames or heaters.
  • Make sure that you follow the package directions on lights and that you never use lights that are meant for indoor use outside.
  • Ensure that your fire extinguisher is handy just in case something does catch on fire.

If something still goes badly, make sure that you call us at Parker Young Construction to ensure you have professionals in charge of your home’s repairs.
